Thinking About Quitting Alcohol? The I’m a Celebrity Campmates Show What’s Possible

Watching some of the campmates talk openly about sobriety on I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! last night (19/11/2025) was inspiring. Their honest conversation is most likely very relatable to anyone who has used alcohol to cope or to temporarily numb difficult emotions. Many people who want to quit drinking will recognise that feeling of using alcohol as a plaster when their emotions are overwhelming.
But, just like a real plaster, alcohol only covers the surface. It doesn’t heal the deeper wound. When a cut is infected, it needs proper treatment. And the same is true for our mental and emotional health. If your mind is in a difficult place, alcohol won’t fix the pain underneath. It simply masks the issue for a short time, and as many eventually discover, this approach doesn’t work in the long term.

What made last night’s episode so positive was hearing some of the celebrities talk about life after quitting alcohol, how they had no regrets and it was the best decision. Their stories reinforce the really important point that when you stop trying to push down feelings or use alcohol to mask them, you can finally begin to heal, and come out stronger on the other side.
It has also been refreshing to see how entertaining, connected, and authentic the campmates are in the jungle, alcohol-free. It’s proof that you don’t need alcohol to socialise, have fun, or feel confident.
